Baking soda or mild cleaning agents (low acidic) can be used to remove stains on the carafe’s.

The best way to clean a coffee maker unit is with 1 part vinegar to 1 part water when pouring into the tank. All, if not most, manufacturers recommend this method. Unless the unit is really dirty or stained, you could use other products like alcohol or bleach, but do not pour them into the tank. Put the cleaning agent on a cloth or paper towel and wipe it down, only use vinegar as the rinsing agent or cleaner for the tank.

You can use a toothbrush or toothpicks to scrape hard to reach areas. If you’ve come back from a long trip or vacation and found mold in your coffeemaker because you forgot to take the filter out after your last cup of coffee, be sure to clean it really good.Mold can cause health problems and it’s just not the risk.

If the coffeemaker has a charcoal filter, it’s best to replace it after about 60 cycles. It can last longer, but also remember to remove the charcoal filter before you put vinegar in the tank. You can just rinse the filter under the faucet.
