I don’t need it to make espresso, just good coffee. The only requirement is that it brews into a metal carafe (not a glass one) and I also need a timer so that I can set it to brew at a certain time. Please only recommend products that you have used yourself.

Zojirushi EC-BD15 Fresh Brew Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker Available on Amazon.com for $89. I’ve had two of them, the first one died due to outside influence. For the best coffee “brewer” get a vacuum pot. Example is the Bodum Santos. Makes excellent coffee.

I have both of those devices. I use the Zojirushi most of the time, but use the Bodum on weekends when I want to sit down and enjoy a good cup of coffee.
