Yes i have done that when my coffee maker broke. But sometimes the grounds get all over and in my coffee. Just be careful.

Sounds like a messy way of making coffee.
    For now buy instant.
If you can afford it, when you buy a new coffee maker, try and buy a "Milita" coffee maker. (Check E-Bay)
It is designed to be used without power.(You pour hot water in the top section, coffee ends up in bottom).

Why don’t you try stopping at a gas station and buy you a cup of coffee. I am sure it will taste better that what you are thinking of making.

no please don’t, it’s messy and and it doesn’t really drain well, instead take the filter with the coffee grounds inside and make a pouch and tie it together and let it brew like a tea bag

If you have a strainer that will fit over a mug, put the paper filter in the strainer, wet it so it will form to it, fill it with the coffee grounds, & pour water. It’s kind of what I do when I make my cold brewed coffee. You could do that, doesn’t require a machine & makes a great concentrate you only have to add water to. Plus only need to make it once every week or so.

For a coffee maker, I use a Chemex manual drip. It’s cheap, doesn’t need power & makes better coffee than any machine.
