You should clean your coffeemaker after every use, by just simply wiping it down with a clean cloth or paper towel to prevent staining and just for proper maintenance. Don’t submerge the coffee maker in water. Glass carafe’s are usually dishwasher safe. Rinse all carafe’s out after each use. Baking soda or mild cleaning agents (low acidic) can be used to remove stains on the carafe’s.

The best way to clean a coffee maker unit is with 1 part vinegar to 1 part water when pouring into the tank. All, if not most, manufacturers recommend this method. Unless the unit is really dirty or stained, you could use other products like alcohol or bleach, but do not pour them into the tank. Put the cleaning agent on a cloth or paper towel and wipe it down, only use vinegar as the rinsing agent or cleaner for the tank.

You can use a toothbrush or toothpicks to scrape hard to reach areas. I have the DeLonghi Magnivica 3300 espresso machine, and it makes FANTASTIC espresso and coffee – besides being fully automated with a grinder and water reservoir. However, it’s pricey:) I also have a Cuisinart coffeemaker, which brews into a thermal pot, and that makes wonderful regular coffee. The pot keeps it hot up to 8 hours too…..btw: the DeLonghi Magnifica 3300 usually gets the highest rating of all espresso machines, including the DeLonghi models which cost more

Hmm, 4-5 people huh? Anyway, maybe 10-12 cup coffee maker is what you are looking for. You can brew less or many cups depend on how many people in your office. I don’t need it to make espresso, just good coffee. The only requirement is that it brews into a metal carafe (not a glass one) and I also need a timer so that I can set it to brew at a certain time. Please only recommend products that you have used yourself.

Zojirushi EC-BD15 Fresh Brew Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker Available on Amazon.com for $89. I’ve had two of them, the first one died due to outside influence. For the best coffee “brewer” get a vacuum pot. Example is the Bodum Santos. Makes excellent coffee.

I have both of those devices. I use the Zojirushi most of the time, but use the Bodum on weekends when I want to sit down and enjoy a good cup of coffee.

I have heard that Cuisinart and Bunn are by far the best, but I want more opinions before I go spend money. I am not going to buy anything as cheap as Mr. Coffee either, they last for about a year and take about 15 minutes to get done.

Bunn makes a great coffee maker but if you really want the best go buy a Technivorm.
