get a gold filter, like $30

cheaper than the paper filters and you avoid the paper flavor too

why do we need a machine to pour water into a cup?

you can use a tea strainer if you want also, thats how I used to do it, like a $1 item, works pretty well

My husband (the resident coffee nut in this house) says Krups makes one with an 8 cup thermal carafe. And it has a programmable timer. We’ve been through so many coffee pots, he knows what he’s talking about!

This is a tough question to answer not knowing how particular you are about the coffee you drink (brew). You might want to read what a restaurant owner has to say about the topic.

There are recommendations for coffee makers on the website based on how you want to brew the coffee and budget matters.

Zojirushi EC-BD15 Fresh Brew Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker

    Available on Amazon.com for $89.

I’ve had two of them, the first one died due to outside influence.

For the best coffee "brewer" get a vacuum pot. Example is the Bodum Santos. Makes excellent coffee.

I have both of those devices. I use the Zojirushi most of the time, but use the Bodum on weekends when I want to sit down and enjoy a good cup of coffee.

Anything by Cusinart is great. I have a 4 cup with a metal carafe, and it does a great job of brewing coffee. Just check out their website and see what works best for you.

check out these product makers: Capresso, Cusinart, Bodium. also, check out the site i listed below. it’s a great site for product reviews on automatic drip coffee makers. word of warning: metal carafes tend to be more expensive than glass, so you’ll need to search out for the deals!
