I use BLEACH. Yes bleach. Run some soapy water about 3/4 cup bleach and let it soak..maybe an hour or something like that. I clean the entire thing wih bleach, you just have to rinse very, very good. The pot an al you can do.

if you have hard water, you should clean your pot after every 40 pots of coffee made.

with soft water, about every 35 (salt residue builds up)

VINEGAR is the best maker cleaner.

for the glass pot, you can put in crushed ice, salt and a little lemon juice. swirl around and then rinse in cool water many times. (this will get off any ‘burnt’ coffee residue–learned in restaurant)

Vinegar is usually the recommended solution to clean coffee makers. The only other thing I could think of using would be lemon juice. It’s still acidic and will not harm unit. Whatever you do DO NOT USE BLEACH!!!

I keep a jug of vinegar handy for just that purpose.
Fill up the water reservoir with vinegar, empty the basket, & cycle.
You can use other lime & rust removers, but they may not be safe.
You need to cycle a few time afterwards with just water.
How often, depends on the amount of lime in your water.
You’ll know when the flow is slow.

You should clean your coffeemaker after every use, by just simply wiping it down with a clean cloth or paper towel to prevent staining and just for proper maintenance.

Don’t submerge the coffee maker in water.

Glass carafe’s are usually dishwasher safe. Rinse all carafe’s out after each use.

Baking soda or mild cleaning agents (low acidic) can be used to remove stains on the carafe’s.

The best way to clean a coffee maker unit is with 1 part vinegar to 1 part water when pouring into the tank. All, if not most, manufacturers recommend this method. Unless the unit is really dirty or stained, you could use other products like alcohol or bleach, but do not pour them into the tank. Put the cleaning agent on a cloth or paper towel and wipe it down, only use vinegar as the rinsing agent or cleaner for the tank. You can use a toothbrush or toothpicks to scrape hard to reach areas.

If you’ve come back from a long trip or vacation and found mold in your coffeemaker because you forgot to take the filter out after your last cup of coffee, be sure to clean it really good. Mold can cause health problems and it’s just not the risk.

If the coffeemaker has a charcoal filter, it’s best to replace it after about 60 cycles. It can last longer, but also remember to remove the charcoal filter before you put vinegar in the tank. You can just rinse the filter under the faucet.
